Anhui sits inland between the Yangtze delta and central China, and its foreign community is concentrated around universities and new industry rather than trade. Hefei has grown quickly into a research and manufacturing city and now holds most of the province’s students and teachers; Wuhu, Bengbu, Anqing and the smaller cities each have small but active circles. The WeChat groups below are listed by city.

Every Anhui city we cover

What these groups are used for

  • Students and universities — the biggest use in Anhui: enrolment questions, dorms, scholarships and finding other foreign students on campus.
  • Teaching work — public school and training centre openings, and warnings about agents worth avoiding.
  • Apartments and rentals — handovers from people finishing a contract, often furnished.
  • Language exchange — easier to arrange here than in the big coastal cities, because there are fewer foreigners competing for partners.

How to join

Pick a city above to see what its groups cover. Then add the admin on WeChat (ID Registration-China), name the city and the group you want, and ask for the current entry fee — prices vary by group. Once your payment is confirmed, the admin sends your invite. Please read the group rules before posting: advertising without the admin’s approval gets people removed on day one.
